As if coming from a heavy and busy weekend is not enough, all I needed was to be easy with things and get myself to relax and reflect back a bit. But that could not happen… Just days later it’s the B-Side edition featuring Manello aka FunkiKora and the now world famous Blk Jks at NsakO… Everything worked out well with preparations and I must say Thanks to Kwanele and Neo, who made sure that i get to the venue on time after doing all the rounds and picking up Si Puleng and Manello in Rosebank off to the venue (The House of NsakO) where guys(Blk Jks)busy with their last touches. And it was a happy reunion for Manello & Blk JKs, as we all last saw each other at the Pass Festival (Cap Town).
Manello opened up with dope tunes getting everybody closer to the dance floor… and the Blk Jks came in with a nice set accompanied by some dodgy sound engineering from the guy. But the guys came up top over that and the highlight came when Michel all the way from New York City took the stage,to collabo with the Blk Jks adding the some Dancehall flavor. It was a nice experience after… and when you thought that was enough Blk Jks summed up the night with Zabalaza… having the whole house on its feet and the General Sbu was on stage for the better part of that song leading the chant “ Gurilla Gijima… Nyamazana “… Followed was myself with myself cooking up a storm with Manello joining for back to back set (“such a wack media term” –Rozzano would say! lol) that went on till close… fun it was!
The next was the B-side Hangover at the two Cat Food Festival held on Henley On Klip site… due to rain the we postponed the stage for the next day and the next day still it was pouring so the hang over party was not to be… but I must give props to the paper plastic guys for such a production.. Even thou they never got to realize the full potential of the festival but you must keep on and thanks to Tshepo who made sure I get there raining or not… thanks bra 1! And Thanks a lot My Brother Manello(it’s all material…we have a life.) and to my home boys for making sure we have a dope a dope regardless the sound problems and bul*** that followed!...nuff said!
